Abbie Hine
Managing Director
Abbie has over 20 years’ experience as a marine educator and coral reef researcher and many more years submerged. Abbie has a MSc in Tropical Coastal Management, and has worked in numerous countries developing and running expeditions, coordinating volunteers, and leading surveys. She has worked as a Marine Biologist at luxury resorts and coordinated marine awareness projects. Believing in the value of marine education and conservation Abbie founded WiseOceans
Emily Daniels
Head of Discovery
Emily began her career in Marine Conservation after travelling to Australia aged 18. Here, she obtained her PADI Instructor qualification and subsequently went on to work in marine operations and research station management including being Resort Manager for a remote luxury dive resort. Emily is our Resort Operations manager, fully utilising her experience in managing teams and operations in remote, tropical countries
Georgina Beresford
Conservation & Education Advisor
Georgina has extensive experience in coral reef research, community outreach and conservation gained in the Caribbean, Indonesia, Fiji, Madagascar, Seychelles and Mauritius. Georgina is a specialist in coral reefs, reef restoration and working alongside marine resource-dependent communities. She has a MSc in Tropical Coastal Management and both manages and develops our global conservation, education and reef restoration projects
Toni Pickering
Sales & Marketing Manager
Undertaking a BSc in Zoology, Toni first experienced the underwater world during an Operation Wallacea trip to South Africa. After obtaining her PADI Open Water, diving in Mozambique resulted in a keen interest to pursue a career in the sector. An accomplished Business Development Manager, initially joined WiseOceans as a Social Media Intern. She quickly became a permanent fixture, and manages all Sales & Marketing Activities
Hannah Harries
Academy and Careers Manager
Hannah grew up in Wales and always wanted to be a Marine Biologist! After training as a Divemaster and obtaining a degree in Marine Vertebrate Zoology, she began her career at Sea Trust. Hannah joined WiseOceans in 2016 and spent several years as a Marine Educator in Seychelles and Mauritius, before returning home (via Maldives). Back at WiseOceans Hannah splits her time between Academy and Careers, overseeing both departments.
Martha O'Keefe
Academy Coordinator
During her undergraduate degree Martha embarked on a field course to Borneo and went scuba diving for the first time. This proved to be a turning point in her career and having fallen in love with the underwater world, she undertook a Masters in marine conservation and gained her PADI Divemaster qualification. Meanwhile, her passion for education began in Hong Kong, while teaching at an international school. Martha joins WiseOceans to combine both her passions, as a Marine Educator.
Rick Bonnier
Marine Educator
Rick is Mauritian and has extensive experience volunteering and working with numerous local marine organisations. Rick has previously participated in the Mandela Washington Fellowship Programme, a USA initiative by Barrack Obama. He was awarded a course at the University of California following an internship at Cape Hatteras National and even met Barrack Obama! Rick is our resident Marine Biologist and Educator at Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita
Bernard Toinette
Marine Educator
Calling Mauritius home, Bernard always lived near the coast, and feels connected to the ocean. Having previously worked as a Forest Guide, Skipper, Diver, and Instructor, Bernard has seen the degradation of the reefs in Mauritius first-hand. He joined WiseOceans to contribute to the reef’s conservation. He leads our La Passe Cadet Reef Restoration Project, in conjunction Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita
Louise Sabadel
Marine Educator
After obtaining her BSc in Biology, Louise went on to obtain her International Masters in Marine Biological Resources. In 2019 Louise joined Reefscapers, at Four Seasons Resort Maldives, to assist their coral restoration program and marine education centre. Louise joined WiseOceans in 2021 to develop our new partnership with Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora and leads both our marine activities and reef restoration projects
Teiva Cornu
Marine Educator (Team Leader)
Teiva has worked in marine conservation for over 14 years. His profound love for the ocean led him to this career, which has been filled with hands-on marine science fieldwork, project management, and leadership. He has significant experience studying sea turtles in French Polynesia, and managing the largest center committed to monitoring, rescuing, and rehabilitating sea turtles in the region
Clémentine Mitoyen
Marine Educator
With a PhD in Animal Behaviour and a certified PADI Scuba Instructor, Clémentine is a passionate marine conservationist who has been involved with various projects worldwide. She has undertaken cetacean monitoring in the Ligurian Sea, worked as a fishery observer in Cyprus and has experience in coral reef restoration
Anaïs Martin
Marine Educator
Anaïs has a Masters in Marine Biology and has undertaken an internship at the CRIOBE in Mo’orea in which she studied ocean acidification on the affects of ocean acidification on crustose coralline algae but also on coral larvae settlement. Following her studies she worked for AILERONS association investigating the shark fin trade and trained to become a Scientific Diver
Amrita Pai
Marine Educator
With a BSc in Marine Biology, Ecology and Zoology , and an M.A in Literature, Amrita is a multi-lingual passionate educator. She is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor with over 3000 dives and 22 years’ experience in diving. In her spare time, she helps manage a wildlife rescue in Pondicherry, India, and is an excellent writer
Bethany Wilkinson
Marine Educator
Bethany grew up in Scotland, where she obtained her BSc in Marine Biology, with a semester abroad in Hawaii, during which she fell in love with the tropics. After this she undertook a Masters in Marine Science and Climate Change before working as Sea Turtle Biologist in the Maldives.
