WiseOceans Academy
Here at WiseOceans we believe that education and outreach is one of the most important tools we have to help our oceans and the animals that call them home. We pride ourselves on inspiring and engaging the next generation of ocean guardians.
If your child is curious about marine life, or if you would like to spark a curiosity, there are plenty of fun ways to introduce them to marine science.
Books, magazines, and resources
Reading is a wonderful way to explore our oceans, but this doesn’t have to mean textbook! Fiction books can teach a range of ages about the ocean and spark a new interest. Our educators have a huge range of recommendations here. Magazines and online blogs can also be a great age-appropriate way of giving mini marine biologists lots of information, whether it’s to research something specific or just to find out some new facts.

Documentaries, shows and movies
Marine science is not just about learning through words, many children can be inspired by awe-inspiring visuals. There are many incredible and famous documentaries out there, as well as TV shows, movies, and even short YouTube videos. You can never go wrong with some Blue Planet!
Virtual learning
Modern technology means we can now bring the marine world right into your home. Our WiseOceans Academy marine biology classes are designed to ignite your child’s sense of wonder, connect them with the natural world, and introduce them to incredible creatures. Learn more about our classes here.

Field trips and visits
One of the most inspirational things for some children to ignite a passion in the marine world, is seeing it up close! This could be taking a trip to an aquarium, a zoo or the beach. Nothing beats seeing the wonders the ocean with their own eyes.
