WiseOceans Academy
Our oceans are vast, mysterious and full of incredible life – which is why they are so interesting to curious kids. WiseOceans Academy have been delivering marine education sessions for over a decade and have taught over 10,000 students from 37 countries! Learn why we believe our sessions are a wonderful way to get kids ages 7 – 12 years old interested in marine biology.
The Topics
To keep learners engaged our sessions cover a huge range of child friendly but interesting topics. We take a closer look at some of the oceans most charismatic and famous creatures, learning all about their anatomy and behaviours, as well as exploring many of the oceans beautiful and amazing habitats.
We have designed two marine biology course that can be taken in sequence that cover 48 different topics. The Marine Biology Club is designed to give leaners a great base knowledge of marine biology, and the follow-on course the Dive Deeper Club builds on this with some more in depth and complex learning.
The Teachers
The unique thing about classes with WiseOceans Academy is our teachers, who are all fully qualified marine biologists. This passion and expertise make a real difference in our sessions, adding depth to all that we will learn. Children will hear real life stories and experiences from our educator’s time in the field – adding an exciting, personal touch that textbooks simply can’t offer.
The Sessions
We as educators know the importance of creating engaging and interesting sessions for our students. Each of our sessions is full of vibrant photos and captivating videos of marine life—many taken by our very own educators during their time in the field. Giving our learners a window into underwater worlds.
Throughout our classes there is also games, quizzes and other opportunities for learners to get involved. Whether it’s trying to figure out which of our facts is true or false, matching an ocean animal with its prey, or sharing stories of visits to the beach or aquariums, we are always encouraging our learners to actively engage with our lessons.
